Fresh Start Dane Rescue’s Mission statement and goal is “Save one ’til there are none”.

FSDR has been rescuing Great Danes and finding them loving forever homes since 2008. We are a Registered Non-Profit organization.  We began with a team of 8 members, with a combined experience in excess of 80 years working with Great Danes.  Since 2008 we have grown to over 22 members, from all over the Maritimes; each working towards the same goal.  We obtain all our Great Danes from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and PEI, and work by email and phone for Newfoundland. We also partner with other rescues and shelters.

Our main focus is the welfare of the dog, and our procedures minimize stress on the animal.  It is our responsibility to find a good home for these unfortunate cases and we go to great lengths to ensure that any new home is totally suitable.  All Great Danes that come into our care are treated like they are a family pet.  They are fostered in our homes; not in a kennel atmosphere.

Our dogs are physically examined by our veterinarians and receive all shots and a microchip, unless this has proven to have been done by the previous owner.  All dogs are neutered or spayed, unless it is inadvisable for a medical reason at the time of surrender. We do temperament evaluations, socialization training, and if necessary attend obedience classes.

If you own, or know of a Great Dane that needs a good home, or, feel you would qualify as a suitable placement home (or foster home) or would like to be a member and help us help unfortunate danes.  Please contact us.
